The RN Refresher Course CPS 4200, offered by Madonna University’s College of Nursing
and Health, has been designed for nurses who have maintained their RN license or who are
seeking re-licensure but have been out of clinical practice and are wishing to return to an
adult setting in acute care, home care, and/or long term care. This course does not replace
agency orientation but is intended to assist the nurse in completing agency orientation with
confidence. An update on adult medical-surgical conditions commonly encountered in
hospital, home care, and long term care settings will be provided. A system’s approach will
be utilized with each condition. General concepts of care, assessment, pharmacotherapy,
clinical practice guidelines, management of emergent conditions, and discharge planning
will be presented. The course includes some nursing skills practice in a lab setting but there
is no clinical component. An optional certification of skill competency (includes skills
required for MI re-licensure) may be arranged with instructor on the first day of the RN
Refresher class. Register for CPS 4201 for an additional fee. For more information, please
